What is Inclusion and why is it important? How can I help my program be more inclusive? Join us to get these questions answered and learn about the philosophy of inclusion and how it benefits children and young people with and without disabilities. Attendees will learn about socially responsible language, how to gather information, and will learn practical skills that will help them fully include children and youth of all abilities in their programs.

Instructor: Kat King

Kat often says that she has the best job in the world. She strives to meet each teacher, youth development professional, or program where they are, and to be a friendly, helpful coach that helps them advance their inclusive practices.

Kat is known for practical, easy to implement solutions and a flexible, fun personality. With over twenty years of experience providing inclusion and accessibility coaching and training, Kat has provided valuable guidance in a variety of settings.

Organizations Kat has provided inclusion training and consultation for include: Boys & Girls Clubs of America, YMCA of the USA, NASA, Head Start, Migrant Seasonal Head Start, National Afterschool Association, Playworks, FIRST Robotics, and the Department of Education. Kat is particularly proud of her support of early childhood, school age, and teen programs on military bases in the US, Japan, South Korea, England, and Bavaria. Kat has a master's degree in Recreation Administration with a focus on recreation therapy from UNC. When not at work, Kat can be found carving wooden spoons and playing with her black lab, Java.
