Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional

We are looking for a Qualified I/DD Specialist for our Community Connections program in Wake County. This position is part-time (15-20 hours per week).

The I/DD Specialist provides direct services to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities to help them: alleviate initial stressors or emergent needs, increase natural supports, understand and navigate the I/DD System of Care, connect to non-state-funded community services, access entitlement benefits, and optimize direct client/family services.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

1. Conducting a comprehensive intake admissions process for new referrals as required by appropriate funding source.

2. Developing, implementing, and monitoring the individualized person-centered service plan for each consumer in order to meet their community integration and service coordination needs, as appropriate.

3. Assisting consumers in accessing benefits and services by providing information and education about community resources so they can make informed decisions, and facilitating the use of community resources selected by the consumer.

4. Developing behavioral intervention strategies for consumers/families, instructing families how to utilize the behavior tools and monitoring the use of the tools to assess any adjustments that are needed

5. Providing crisis intervention, guidance, and supportive counseling to consumers as needed.

6. Advocating for and promoting the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all opportunities in the community.

7. Working collaboratively and in partnership with team members and agency staff in order to meet program goals and objectives.

8. Documenting program activities as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or related field required. Master’s degree in a human service field preferred.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years, post-bachelor’s degree, accumulated experience with the population served, or one (2) years post-graduate degree, accumulated experience with the population served. Must possess knowledge of Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities. Experience working with dually-diagnosed individuals is a plus.

License/Certification: Current CPR and First Aid certification required.

YOU MUST HAVE 5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN WORKING DIRECTLY WITH PEOPLE WITH INTELLECTUAL/DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION. WE WILL NOT CONSIDER INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL HEALTH EXPERIENCE ONLY.

Driving is required to meet the requirements of the position.
