We are looking for a dedicated, part-time (30 hours per week, eligible for CPI’s Benefits Plan) Employment Support Associate for our Project SEARCH and Supported Employment programs.
The Employment Support Associate works directly with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) and high school students with I/DD to enable them to maintain long-term, competitively paid employment, and/or to enable students to complete internships and find competitively-paid employment.
Job Duties Include:
- Supporting students with disabilities as they complete Project SEARCH’s employability curriculum and internship rotations.
- Assisting with on-the-job training to students during internship rotations at the host business site.
- Collaborating with programs’ partners, including Wake County Public Schools, Alliance Health, and the NC Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services.
- Assisting and enabling adult consumers in the Supported Employment program and students in Project SEARCH to maintain long-term, competitively-paid employment by providing appropriate follow-up support and monitoring work performance/progress.
- Maintaining regular contacts with consumers, students, and employers.
- Facilitating social interactions between consumers and their co-workers to foster natural supports in the workplace.
- Providing vocational training on the job (using coaching and one-on-one instruction, etc.) to ensure that students and adult consumers are able to maintain employer’s required level of proficiency (or reach proficiency for new job task requirements).
- Providing follow-along supports and monitoring work performance.
- Providing long-term support to students and adult consumers at competitive employment worksites.
- Providing other support for students and adult consumers (i.e., support during performance reviews, pay raises, schedule changes, resources for transportation to and from work, etc.) as necessary.
- Providing crisis management as needed.
- Providing technical assistance to employers, including consultation and education.
- Documenting program activities as required, including logs and progress notes.
- Advocating for and promoting the full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all opportunities in the community.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education—Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, or related field preferred. High school diploma required.
Experience—Minimum of two (2) years accumulated experience with the population served. Vocational training, job development, and other human resources experience strongly preferred. Experience in Crisis Management required.
CPR/First Aid Certification required.
A valid driver’s license and driving are required for this position.
