El Pueblo -- English Language Site

El Pueblo is a North Carolina non-profit statewide advocacy and public policy organization dedicated to strengthening the Latino Community. This mission is accomplished through leadership development, proactive and direct advocacy, education, and promotion of cross-cultural understanding in partnerships at the local, state, and national levels.

North Carolina Assistive Technology Program (NCATP)

The North Carolina Assistive Technology Program (NCATP) is a state and federally funded program that provides assistive technology services statewide to people of all ages and abilities.

Assistive Technology (AT) is any type of equipment that helps people with disabilities or older individuals be more independent at home, school, work, leisure time, or in community life.

First in Families of North Carolina

The goal of First In Families of North Carolina is to support people with developmental disabilities and their families to create the lives they want now and in the future.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) -- Wake County

The mission of NAMI Wake County is to improve the lives of individuals and their families living with severe and persistent mental illness.  They work to protect the dignity of people living with brain disorders through advocacy, education, and support.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) -- Durham County

NAMI Durham is an active, caring, friendly group of people. Its members are relatives and friends of people with mental illness, professional service providers, policy makers, people with psychiatric disabilities, and other concerned citizens.

Wake County Human Services

Wake County Human Services is the consolidation of programs and services formerly carried out by several separate departments and offices: Social Services, Public Health, Mental Health, Job Training, Child Support, Housing and Transportation.

The Durham Center

The Durham Center manages mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse services in Durham County. Although we do not actually provide services, our job is to ensure that local citizens who seek help receive the quality services and supports they are eligible for to help them achieve their goals and live as independently as possible. These services are delivered by a network of private providers who contract with The Durham Center.

Community Partnerships, Inc. is a contracted provider with the Durham Center.

Durham County Medicaid

Medicaid provides medical coverage, based on income and assets, for families with children, Adults 65 and older or disabled (including Long Term Care). Health Choice is for children in families up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.   

Wake County Medicaid

Wake County Human Services administers the Medicaid program, an assistance program that helps pay medical bills for some people who have low income and cannot afford health care. Funding for Medicaid comes from federal, state and county sources. Medicaid for adults and Medicaid for children are separate programs.
