Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina is the only statewide nonprofit in North Carolina dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect in all forms. Through family-strengthening programs, public and professional education, leadership, and advocacy, we work to give every child a healthy, nurturing childhood and the opportunity to grow up to be a caring, contributing adult. Through our offices in Raleigh, we serve every community in North Carolina. We are the North Carolina affiliate of Prevent Child Abuse America.

Domestic Violence Shelters -- Wake County

InterAct is a private, nonprofit United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. InterAct also promotes violence-free relationships and communities through collaboration, public information, education, and advocacy. InterAct is the only confidential domestic violence prevention program serving Wake County's twelve municipalities.

Domestic Violence Shelters -- Durham County

For more than twenty years, the Durham Crisis Response Center has been the sole provider of comprehensive shelter and support services in the Durham area, providing counseling, legal advocacy, support groups, and shelter to survivors and their families in the aftermath of domestic or sexual violence. DCRC also offers prevention workshops and training to faith-based organizations, schools, the general public and professionals throughout the Triangle. Over the years, DCRC helped more than 20,000 women and children. Last year alone, 170 women and children found safety at the Durham Crisis Response Center shelter, and another 1100 learned they have an ally who can help them stop the violence.

The North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCCADV) is a community of agencies and individuals who serve battered women and their children. We are committed to building a society in which our shared beliefs and institutions discourage violence against women. NCCADV was founded in 1981 with 21 participating programs and now includes over 90 member programs. Areas of support to member programs include technical assistance, training, information about public policy initiatives, and activities to increase public awareness.

Food Assistance -- Wake County

The Salvation Army provides bags of food on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm. Families or individuals may make appointments up to 2 weeks in advance. Assistance is limited to 25 households each day. Participants receive 1-3 bags of groceries, and may receive food assistance once every 3 months. Please call our offices at 919 834.6733 to schedule an appointment.

SOUP LINE
Individuals may come and enjoy an evening meal at the Salvation Army of Wake County every Monday through Friday, from 5pm until 6pm. No identification or information is required to receive a hot meal from The Salvation Army – this service is open to all members of the community.
