Typical volunteer opportunities include:
General Office Support – filing, receptionist duties, general administrative support.
YES program volunteers – The YES program in Durham and Wake Counties hold RAP sessions for the young people enrolled. These sessions are designed to provide a forum where participating youth can learn life skills while connecting with adults in the community. As one might expect, the topics for RAP sessions are broad and variable, but focus mainly on the development of life skills. Topics cover everything from building self-confidence, to learning how plan and manage a personal budget. From Parenting 101 to dressing for success in the workplace. We are always looking for RAP session presenters who would like to donate an hour or two of their time to our YES participants.
School Supply Drive — Many of the families we serve struggle to afford school supplies for their children at the beginning of each school year. Community Partnerships conducts a school supply drive to help make sure that these children have what they need to get the school year started right. We need help with securing school supply donations and organizing and building school supply bags.
Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive – The holidays are a particularly difficult time for many of the people we serve. Each year, Community Partnerships conducts a food drive to help bring the spirit of the Thanksgiving season into every home. We need help collecting food donations and organizing and building food donation bags for families.
Annual Holiday Assistance Drive – Imagine the holidays with no presents to unwrap. Or a cold winter’s day without a warm coat. Many of the families we serve struggle to meet their basic, everyday needs. The annual holiday assistance drive provides presents for these families every December. St. Francis United Methodist Church has been a longtime sponsor of our holiday assistance drive, but we can always use more help to meet all of our families needs. You can help by filling a gift request, contributing money, or by volunteering to organize and build gift donation bags.
