The Fostering Wellness project was launched in March, 2016, with Community Partnerships serving as the lead agency. Fostering Wellness is a collaborative project, and Community Partnerships is partnering with six other organizations in Wake, Durham, and Orange Counties to directly impact approximately 500 young people.
Funded by GSK and Triangle Community Foundation,Fostering Wellness will receive $1 million over two years to empower young people who age out of the foster care system to become healthy, thriving members of the community. The project will build networks comprised of participating young adults and business and community leaders who will engage in experiential learning opportunities focused on the food system—and all its component industries (farming, transportation, logistics, distribution, sales, food preparation, etc.).
Through this project, partner businesses will drive workforce solutions, and will provide participants with opportunities for job shadowing, work experiences, and certifications relevant to the food industry. Fostering Wellness will offer best practice services in four major areas:
